Restaurants
The very first Shiraz Indian restaurant was opened in 1996 in Whangarei.
The current owner, Jaswant Singh Minhas, is originally from the Punjab region of India, and a chef by trade.
He started working at Shiraz when he arrived in New Zealand, juggling shifts alongside his business management studies.
He bought that Shiraz Indian restaurant in 1998.
From there, three new branches eventually opened, in Dargaville, Kamo and Whangarei.
Jas has a passion for delivering authentic Indian food and a unique taste of Indian culture to his customers.
Shiraz chefs craft delicious food in traditional tandoori ovens which give naans, meats and vegetarian tandoori dishes their distinctive, authentic flavour.
All Shiraz chefs have worked in some of India’s top hotels. The team continues to find different ways to enhance the dining experience and bring new dishes to the menu, while retaining the authenticity of the Indian food and culture experience.
