Love Local back for fifth year

Porirua City Council

One of the biggest events on the Porirua calendar is set down for 8 June this year: the Love Local Expo.

Te Rauparaha Arena will be bursting at the seams as vendors showcase the best that our city has to offer, from products and services, to crafts and community events.

There will be offerings including craft beer, cupcakes, jewellery, custom homewares, gyms and cheerleading, activities and exhibits.

Love Local began in 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, giving Porirua businesses a boost coming out of lockdowns.

There are many ways to get to Te Rauparaha Arena for the expo – catch the train to Porirua and walk or e-scooter around the harbour path to the venue, catch a bus to stops on Norrie St and Lyttelton Ave, or park close by. Car parking might be difficult to get in the Arena car park on the day.

Love Local Expo, free entry, Saturday 8 June, 10am-4pm, Te Rauparaha Arena.

Do you think these should become car parks?

The Team Reporter from Hamilton Press

Abandoned bus stops at a prime central Hamilton location near busy bars and restaurants have sat unused for two and half years, a sight that’s left one regular visitor frustrated at authorities.

The last time a bus stopped at the Victoria St end of Collingwood St was December 2021. Since then, fading yellow lines and no parking signs have warned motorists to not park there unless they want a ticket.
