The Garage Sale is a Project Lyttelton initiative run mostly by volunteers. It is Lyttelton's much loved charity op-shop and fully functioning community trading centre. The shop is a hub for our community to connect in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive place. It is also where donations may be reused, recycled and repurposed. Locals donate their unwanted items and The Garage Sale team happily sell them. Locals can also trade their donations for Time Bank credits - it's a win win for everyone. The Garage Sale is also available to local harbour community groups as an opportunity to raise funds for their group. We have had at least 20 groups take up this opportunity before, running the shop on a Saturday morning. This is a busy morning as visitors to the Farmers Market also come and visit the shop.
