As a member of Community Patrols NZ, in conjunction with the NZ Police and Tauranga City Council we embrace the "Safer Communities" aspect of community involvement. We are all volunteers who carry out day and night patrols in a marked vehicle. We have weekly updates from the Police on areas where crimes are prevalent and plan our patrols where we can be see and be seen, reporting suspicious activity, vehicles or people. We do not confront or engage with such incidents we can report on our police radio our observations and note details on our reports. We assist Police and other authorities at incidents or events where we can do road block control, event assistance, and any activity where or high visibility and training can be a benefit for organisers.
