The Onehunga Fencible & Historical Society is a group that meets monthly. The purpose of the group is to preserve the history of Onehunga. In addition to holding monthly meetings with interesting speakers, the society manages the three historic buildings on Jellicoe Park for the City Council. Volunteers from the society open the two historic cottages on the first and third Sunday of every month for the people of Onehunga and their visitors. The society is also responsible for the internal upkeep and cleaning of the buildings and the collection of exhibits housed there. This is an excellent opportunity to view the exhibits up close and to help preserve them for present and future residents of Onehunga. The meetings of the Society are held at the Blockhouse on Jellicoe Park at 7.30 on the third Wednesday every month. Visitors and new members are welcome to attend. The cottages are open on the first and third Sunday every month from 1.30 to 4PM
