Massey Community House was originally situated at 163 Royal Road, Massey.  It is one of the longest serving community Houses, in the Old Waitakere City.

The House was established in 1976, by a group of mothers geographically isolated by lack of transportation (public and private), lack of telephone and poor shopping facilities.

The original Massey Community House was leased from Housing New Zealand, Community Housing, this House was largely unchanged since it was built in 1976, it looked poor and uninviting.  When the Massey Library moved to Westgate, the Massey Community House Society Inc relocated the Massey Community House from Royal Road to 385 Don Buck Road, this happened in December 2002 and from then it leased the building from Auckland Council.

Auckland Council have great plans for the building at 385 Don Buck Road, it will a more “fit for purpose” building and it will mean the building will be closed for a few months later this year for renovations.

From 1st July 2015 Auckland Council will be taking back the running of the building, the Massey Community House and the Society Incorporated will no longer have a lease or a presence at the building, however the Fridsy Market will continue, the proceeds from which are returned to the Community by way of events eg Xmas in the Park...

The Massey Community House and the Society Incoporated will be considering the future and are actively seeking a building to begin again.
