Kaipupu Point is the 40 hectare isthmus beside between where the ferries park in Picton and Shakespeare Bay. It consists regenerating (and some original) native bush separated from the Mainland by a predator proof fence. Its success is built on the many thousands of volunteer hours dedicated to the project since the creation of The Kaipupu Mainland Island Society Inc in 2005. The venture is a joint one between D.OC and Port Marlborough (who own the land) and local volunteers. The project’s success and its future depend on the ongoing generosity within our local volunteer and business communities.
