Volunteer members of the Invercargill Community Patrol undertake patrols, in pairs, in our patrol vehicle’s of the city’s streets, business premises, schools & community assets on Friday & Saturday nights between 10pm & 4am. We are equipped with Police radios & work closely with the Police, keeping an eye out & reporting any issues we think the Police may need to know about. We also assist with the monitoring of the inner city camera’s at the Don Street police station.
Anyone can join as long as they are of good character and can pass a police check. There are no membership fees or charges, full training is given (which is not very odious) & there are no minimum hours you need to do.
Your volunteering can be very rewarding as it allows you to be in a position to help people & report incidents sooner which can prevent them from escalating.
