Grey Street Masonic Lodge Rooms

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows is a worldwide Fraternal movement open to people of all genders. Odd Fellowship originated in England, originally formed by working men and tradesmen to provide "collective relief and support against hard times". The founding Lodge of the American Movement the Washington Lodge No 1, formed in Baltimore Maryland USA on 26th March 1819 with just 5 members. By 1861 there were over two hundred thousand Odd Fellows in the USA. Women were welcome in as members in 1851. The Movement was set up in New Zealand in 1862 and thrived for 172 years. The Principles of Odd Fellowship are Friendship, Love and Truth. Members meet as "Brothers" and "Sisters" in the form of a "Lodge" structured along time honored lines, and collectively pool resources for the operation of the Lodge, and to assist those in need, including worthwhile charities. The Hamilton Group is a new start movement that is aiming to become a chartered Lodge under the Grand Lodge of Australasia. We welcome new members interested in helping us to achieve that goal and be part of a unique band of Odd Fellows. Prospective members must be aged 18 and over, Believe in a Supreme being, and have no serious criminal convictions. The Hamilton Group meets on the 1st Friday of Each Month, for social fellowship, charitable activities and to keep alive the traditions of this Order.
