Mission
To reduce the incidence and consequence of fire and to provide a professional response to other emergencies.
Description
Greenhithe is a small suburb on the North Shore of Auckland, approximately 15 minutes drive from the central city. The Brigade’s first response zone includes the areas of Greenhithe, Wainoni and Cuthill and borders Albany to the east and Hobsonville to the west. The current population is 8,373 (2013 census) but the community has rapid growth which is predicted to double within the next five years. Greenhithe has some non-reticulated areas within the District, including some large areas of scrub and bush land. The suburb is on the main approach path to Whenuapai Airport, and has a main arterial Expressway running through the District. The most common incidents that the Brigade responds to (excluding false alarms) are rubbish fires and all types of weather related incidents. The Brigade is all volunteers from the local community.
