The Environmental Education for Resource Sustainability Trust (EERST) was established in the year 2000. EERST aims to work with preschools, schools, businesses and communities to create a more sustainable future. We believe that through education and action, communities can become more environmentally aware and live more sustainably. Among other initiatives and community based behaviour change programmes, EERST manages the highly successful Paper4trees programme, which is a waste minimisation and tree planting programme for NZ schools and preschools. Schools and preschools are encouraged to divert their paper and cardboard from landfill, and are then rewarded with native trees to plant on their grounds for their efforts.
