Counselling Services Centre is a Not For Profit Agency located in Papatoetoe. Our funding comes from a variety of sources, including Ministry contracts, Council grants, lotteries, and donations, and we are reliant upon this funding to be able to provide an affordable service to the people of South Auckland. There are two main arms to the agency – the counselling service, and the crisis response service. The counselling team consists of a diverse group of counsellors with a wide range of skills, who provide counselling to those who require the services within the Counties Manukau area. Some of our counsellors are ACC registered and provide counselling for people affected by sexual violence. We also have contracts for counselling with Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Social Development to provide a range of counselling services to those affected by domestic violence. Our counsellors also provide generic counselling, including grief and loss, relationship difficulties, and Employee Assistance Programmes to name a few. The crisis response team provides a 24/7 crisis response service for all victims of sexual violence within Counties Manukau, and, at times, the greater Auckland area. The crisis team consists of both day staff and after hours staff, to ensure that support is available to those who need it around the clock. This is a unique service, and we are the only agency to provide this within the Counties Manukau area. The crisis response team have specialised training in providing an effective response service for those affected by sexual violence, and utilise a mixture of counselling and social work micro skills. The services provided by the crisis response team are funded by a variety of contracts and funding sources, which enables us to supply this service to the community for free. The crisis team also provide a court support service for anyone affected by sexual violence who is going through the justice process, including support during and after the trial, and preparation of victim impact statements.
