Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust
Level 129 High Street Rangiora 7400

Our passionate Wellbeing team provides services to North Canterbury people to meet life’s challenges, so they can learn, connect and strengthen wellbeing in their lives and in the community. The key cornerstones of our organisation capture the essence of what we do. Passion: Our team of volunteers, staff and board are all dedicated to making a sustained improvement for our families. This has been amplified following the Canterbury earthquakes where we have expanded services to meet the increasing level of need form our fast growing population. Connection We work collaboratively with our community colleagues. We value trust respect and mutual support to achieve the best possible outcomes for our families. In this way we can offer a continuum of services ranging from intensive case work through to supporting people to reconnect with their families/ whanau and the wider community. Community Almost all of us live locally and are proud to serve the community where we reside. Community Wellbeing is grounded in the community having had its beginnings in the early 80s through a group of local residents. We know that a healthy connected community helps families to flourish. We participate in several joint initiatives including SS Waimak (we host the co-ordinators role) Together Hurunui, Social isolation group, RSRT, YAMAHA, pastoral care, and school Dean’s meetings. Our volunteers are central to all of the work we do. We also provide backroom services and meeting space for other community groups in North Canterbury, facilitating an easier pathway for programme and service delivery across the district. We are at the forefront of working with vulnerable people through participating in and leading the roll out of Childrens teams in North Canterbury. Manager Deirdre Ryan is the North Canterbury Representative on the Canterbury Childrens Teams Local Governance Group. We offer the following support services across the Waimakariri and Hurunui for vulnerable children young people and families. • Karanga Mai Early Learning Centre (attached to the Young Parents College in Kaiapoi • Youth Drug and Alcohol Counselling service for young people up to age 19 • Family counselling service • In Home Social worker service • Strengthening Families co-ordination • Youth worker support • Community Pantry in Kaiapoi (foodbank) • Schools Attendance Service • Restorative Justice service • Volunteer drivers
