Auckland Grammar School was endowed in 1850 by Sir George Grey for the education of all New Zealanders and opened in 1869. We celebrate 150 years of Grammar education in 2019. We are committed to our vision of pre-eminence in boys' secondary education through offering a dual pathway (Cambridge and NCEA qualifications), with 157 specialist teaching staff, 39 different sporting codes, 14 performance instrumental music groups, choir and musical productions. Sitting on 17 hectares of land with four Category A Historic Places buildings, Grammar is a school which has a proud history of Old Boy support.
