In the heart of Tauranga's creative landscape, what began as a small studio space has now blossomed into a vibrant and expansive creative hub thanks in part to lottery funding support from Te Puna Tahua Lottery Grants Board. The Incubator Creative Hub was established at The Historic Village in 2013, with an aim to provide studios and events, support for the creatives in the community, and to attract art groups.
Within a few years of opening, the founders of the Hub saw a huge appetite from the community – but the hub operated in a single room which could only accommodate a small group comfortably. Lotto New Zealand players through Local Grants have helped create the ‘Creative Community Campus’ - a new multi-room, indoor-outdoor haven established in a renovated pre-school building, adding a modern and versatile space.
The Hub now operates an umbrella of sixteen distinct creative entities including five galleries, a music venue, a whakairo hub, artist studios, a photography lab, designer clothing stores and a hip hop/R&B studio. With one hundred percent of Lotto New Zealand profits being returned to local communities, every time you play a Lotto New Zealand game, you’re a Kiwi helping organisations like The Incubator Creative Hub foster a strong, inclusive, and connected community.

Te Rauparaha Arena will be bursting at the seams as vendors showcase the best that our city has to offer, from products and services, to crafts and community events.
There will be offerings including craft beer, cupcakes, jewellery, custom homewares, gyms and cheerleading, activities and exhibits.
Love Local began in 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, giving Porirua businesses a boost coming out of lockdowns.
There are many ways to get to Te Rauparaha Arena for the expo – catch the train to Porirua and walk or e-scooter around the harbour path to the venue, catch a bus to stops on Norrie St and Lyttelton Ave, or park close by. Car parking might be difficult to get in the Arena car park on the day.

Heavy vehicles are parking on this road on a regular basis which block site lines both ways, up and down the hill. (see pics below with a trucks either side of the road). This is a huge risk for children and their families using the Nga Hau park, the Eugenia shops and local residences, coming in and out of driveways and side street traffic entering and exiting the road such as Maitairangi and Paulownia Avenue.
I feel it’s a fatality waiting to happen…. as these heavy vehicles are parking in these spots regularly and with the increase in traffic in our area increases the risks.
This is evidenced by pics taken this morning of cars having to cross the centre line, and also you can see the deteriorating asphalt where these heavy vehicles regularly drive and park. Also when these vehicles place their tyres on the grass verge it also rips up the grass in wet weather.
On top of this I have noticed a lot more traffic on Eugenia Rise especially over the last year . This could be contributed to the massive increase in traffic backlog on Redoubt Road. I have been told that google maps reroutes down Goodwood Drive and Eugenia Rise to avoid the traffic light build up on Redoubt Road to the traffic intersection Everglade Drive, Hollyford Drive, Redoubt Road. On top of this , a lot speed down the Eugenia Rise Hill, having to pass these massive tall 10 ton trucks, a children’s park, local shopping centre and side streets traffic like Maitairangi street (recent addition of 97 new homes a few years ago).
While I am very grateful to Manurewa Local Board chairman Glenn Murphy for helping us get the installation of the speed feedback digital signs to help monitor the speed issues some time ago, we still have daily speeding traffic and these additional issues of heavy trucks blocking site lines, deteriorating roads, and increase of traffic that I feel there is a need urgent action and attention.
I’m really interested in what others in our community are experiencing and have to say on this matter.

Life Education Trust New Zealand has been a beacon of empowerment for Kiwi children and youth for over 35 years. Through innovative teaching programmes, this trust has touched the lives of tamariki and rangatahi across the country, helping them grow and thrive. Supported by funding from Te Puna Tahua Lottery Grants Board, through funds raised by Lotto New Zealand players, Life Education Trust's initiatives - including the renowned ‘Healthy Harold’ programme - have been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape in Aotearoa.
With mobile classrooms traversing the nation, Life Education Trust reaches over 200,000 tamariki every year, bringing quality education to various communities. The unique approach of using specialist educators and Harold the giraffe mascot creates a safe and engaging learning environment.
Life Education Trust is set to launch Harold's Studio this year. This new endeavour will leverage technology to deliver Healthy Harold lessons through online platforms, showcasing the trust's commitment to evolving and enhancing its educational offerings to meet the changing needs of tamariki.

That’s the word from Kylie Anderson, Team Leader Porirua Women and Family Centre, who says students visited at local schools can’t wait to sign up.
“They’re just so excited about the chance to show off their talents and take part in something really positive for the city.
From singing in the shower to back flips in the garden – talented young people all over town have been showing off to friends and family for years now’s the chance to take this to the big stage.
Porirua Mayor Anita Baker says she is delighted that the Porirua Women and Family centre is providing a platform for young people to shine.
Registrations are open to anyone from Porirua aged 5 to 25.
