With Christmas fast approaching, we'd be keen to hear from those who spend the festive season (or part of it) away each year. Where do you go and why? What makes it such a great place to be at this time of year? What are you most looking forward to about the trip? Any words of advice you may have on things to do or places to eat or drink in the area would also be much appreciated. As usual, please put 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it included in a travel article. Cheers.

Events such as the Maori migration and their deep and meaningful cultural practices followed a few hundred years later by the colonisation of our country by mainly English migrants have always been in the broadest terms well known by myself and I believe most New Zealanders.
However having recently out of curiosity read a number of historic articles published by Bruce Moon a retired Historian and Physicist my perception of some of our countries earliest historic events have been turned upside down. What impressed me the most when reading these articles was all of Moon's stated facts are backed by authentic references which is most unusual and certainly adds a new and real dimension to events which happened in the past.
Bruce Moon's historic perspective has not changed my overall holistic understanding of our countries history but simply added another layer of information which needs to be factored in when seeking to obtain more depth of knowledge regarding our past history.
I believe it's important to fully understand our past in order that as a country we can move forward and develop a true multi cultural environment benefiting all New Zealanders.
