A little about Taranaki Kiwi Trust - Kiwi from Rare to Everywhere. Saving Kiwi in Taranaki
Taranaki Kiwi Trust is a charitable trust working throughout Taranaki to protect Western Brown Kiwi and increase their populations.
Kiwi are New Zealand’s iconic national bird, yet they are considered nationally vulnerable and without help they are likely to be extinct in the wild within two generations. We are losing 2% of our un-managed populations every year.
Following concerns expressed about the plight of these increasingly endangered birds in Taranaki several meetings were held by members of interested parties, in response to this the Taranaki Kiwi Trust was formed in 2001.
