Hi Neighbours,

With the School holidays coming to an end many secondary school students will be entering the NCEA maths curriculum and may find themselves struggling.
I have been teaching Mathematics in Devonport over the last 20 years using plenty of diagrams and emphasising the importance of solid working. A little bit of chess has also been used to successfully improve memory and develop the sequential tactical problem solving skills so critical in maths.
I am able to tutor in your homes around the Devonport area and I’m happy to zoom otherwise.
All my full time students passed their NCEA course requirements in 2023.
Perhaps I could help you discover excellence in mathematics.

MetService has issued a heat alert in Auckland, warning the temperature is forecast to be very hot for this location and precautions need to be in place.

What you need to know:
- The forecast high today is 29C.
- Metservice are advising those in Auckland to stay hydrated, seek shade, check in with vulnerable people and look after your pets & livestock.

Keeping yourself and others safe in hot weather:
Drink plenty of water - try to drink two litres per day
If you need to be in the heat, stay in the shade where possible
Avoid drinking alcohol, caffeine, and hot drinks
Eat nourishing food with a high water content (such as salads and fruit)
Dress yourself and children in light clothing, cool cottons and natural fabrics are best
Avoid extreme physical exertion
People and pets should not be left in stationary vehicles
Take a cool shower or bath
Check in on others, especially those at most risk, children, elderly or those with health issues
Spray or sprinkle water over skin or clothing, a damp cloth on the back of the neck can help

Keep up to date on the Stuff Website or read some tips on the MetService site about keeping your home cool.

Not all Ryman residents can claim viral internet sensation status – but Patrick Hogan Retirement Village’s Doug Lineham sure can!

It was during the live televised name reveal for Ryman Healthcare’s new Cambridge village on TVNZ’s Breakfast that presenter Matty McClean happened upon Doug.

The resulting hilarious sequence of dry, but complimentary-to-Ryman, one-liners left the audience calling for Doug to have his own show. One fan even touted him as the next PM!

What viewers didn’t know, however, was that behind the droll exterior, Doug was dealing with the loss of his beloved wife Jan.

Click to read Doug's story.
