STADDON-SMITH, John

Of Christchurch. Passed away on January 10, 2021, aged 93 years. John passed surrounded by three generations of his family with his body finally accepting that the time had come. John immigrated to New Zealand from Nottingham in the UK in 1952 and, with his previously deceased wife Eva, spent nearly seventy years working and raising a family in his adopted home of NZ. He will be forever remembered in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him as one of nature’s true gentlemen, kindness, patience, courtesy, humour and chivalry personified, and the world will be that little bit worse off with his passing. John is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren who, with other family joining remotely, held a private service on Wednesday, January 13, in Christchurch. Dad had a life-long connection to and involvement with aircraft and specifically the RNZAF.
