Three Christchurch mayoral hopefuls in public debate
Three of Christchurch's leading mayoral hopefuls will face-off in a public debate in the city centre.
Lianne Dalziel, John Minto and Darryll Park will lock horns at a forum hosted by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at The Piano.
Dalziel, Minto and Park were invited to take part after polling indicated they are leading the 13-strong field of mayoral contenders.
The forum is supported by The Press and the MC will be broadcast journalist Sacha McNeil.
The September 4 forum runs from 5pm to 7.30pm.
It is open to the public and free but registration is essential. Email registration@cecc.org.nz or by phone at 03 366 5096.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
Do you think this ban is reasonable?
