We Say/You Say: trans-Tasman bubble

Thomas Campbell Reporter from Marlborough Midweek

Hi Marlborough!

After more than a year of closed borders, Australians and New Zealanders will soon be able to jet-hop between countries after the government announced that the trans-Tasman travel bubble will be operational from April 19.

With quarantine-free travel now possible, are you more likely to head across the Tasman or travel domestically?

Fronting Australian media yesterday, Jacinda Ardern not only spoke of the excitement of families being able to be reunited, but also pitched New Zealand tourist activities to Australian viewers.

"If there is a hot spot in one of the states of Australia we may just act in the same way that another state would ... Just prepare that there may be disruptions, but what better place in the world to be stuck. Am I right?," she said.

The trans-Tasman bubble will operate on a three tier basis: Continue, Pause and Suspend. If there are a few cases in Australia linked to the border, quarantine-free travel will continue. Travel may be paused for 72 hours if there are rogue community cases and in the instance of a state or nationwide lockdown, travel will be suspended.

Can You Help .... I am looking for preloved laptops or tablets that are either working or not that you are willing to donate ...

Nigel from Brightwater

Hi everyone

Please can you help me ..... I would like to obtain some preloved laptop computers that can be cleaned up and refurbished so that I can pass on to those who do not have one.

If you can help me out and do have a laptop computer sitting around gathering dust would you please consider donating it so that it can be passed on to someone that doesn't have one.

Please be assured that any data on the machine will be thoroughly removed and will not be accessible after it has been cleaned and refurbished.

Call or text me ... Nigel Bailey ... 0223243695 if you can help.

Sutherland Stream

Christopher from Blenheim

Someone posted that one of the things they love about Blenheim is Sutherland Stream.
Here's a bit of a photo essay celebrating just a little bit of the stream.

(I'm not associated with Stuff or Neighbourly, I'm just a local who got the bug for photography, writing, and playing with computers as a teen way back in the late 80s at Boys College, and as a result like to tell local stories when I get the chance.)
