We are excited to announce that Ports of Auckland Round the Bays 2021 is going virtual!
We are bringing you the first-ever Ports of Auckland Round the Backyard! It’s a way for us all to band together for NZ's largest fun-run while keeping safe in our own backyards.
Participants will have from 6am Friday 12 March to 9pm Sunday 14 March (NZDT) to complete their own 8.4km course in one session – all via a handy app!
There will be live leaderboards, an interactive course map, social sharing, and participant places and paces in real-time – so you can have a healthy rivalry between friends! And you can even claim a finisher’s medal.
If you have a participant registration to our 2021 event, you have been emailed all of the info on how to go virtual with us, or opt-out for a 50% refund of your entry.
If you didn’t sign-up for our physical event, you can now sign-up for the virtual one! $10 from every new entry will go towards our official 2021 charity partner Auckland City Mission.
The Round the Bays team are stoked to be able to bring you this virtual event, as it means anyone from around the country can now be involved!

Downtown Auckland is going through huge transformation with its various streetscape and transport projects. But in stark contrast, several plots of land worth hundreds of millions of dollars have sat as car parks since buildings were knocked down in the 1980s.
The Elliott St car park sits on a 4417 square metre plot of land, valued at $82.5 million.
The land has sat undeveloped as a car park - where an hour will cost you $19 - since the Royal International Hotel was demolished in 1987.
It was purchased by Singapore company NDG Asia Pacific (NZ) Limited for $53m in 2012, and in 2017 the company was given approval by the Overseas Investment Office to build and operate a 52-storey, five- star Ritz-Carlton Hotel, with 300 guest rooms, four floors for hotel facilities, six for retail and five for car parking.
The development is expected to cost $350m, with the start of construction dependent on the completion of City Rail Link. However, the resource consent for the tower is due to expire in October.
