Auckland light rail project
Hi neighbours,
The Government has announced plans to get Auckland's light rail project back on track.
Transport Minister Michael Wood has revealed plans to set up a new working group to create a business case for the project.
It will have six months to provide the Government with information on a preferred route, along with costs and funding options for the rapid transit system from Auckland's CBD to the Auckland International Airport.
The working group will comprise representatives from the Ministry of Transport, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and Maori, Wood said.

Destruction of Western Springs Forest.
I hope everyone is aware that today the Auckland Council has begun the total destruction of the Western Springs Forest by clear felling everything. This includes the regenerating native plants understorey. They started by cutting the surrounding native trees on the outskirts to put in a approximately 5 metre road across the whole site. The contractors will be back on Monday. Please go and see for yourself what is happening and if you don’t like what you see make your protest known.
