'Pack mob' behaviour of boy racers intimidates North Canterbury residents
A large gathering of alcohol-guzzling youths doing burnouts under the instruction of a woman with a loudspeaker is the latest in boy racer activity riling Ohoka residents.
Residents in the North Canterbury settlement say “pack-mob behaviour” is intimidating and keeping locals awake at night, and the rural roads are being left covered in rubbish and discarded tyres and rims.
A passing motorist called police and videoed crowds of people drinking and casually walking on the 100kmh Tram and Jacksons roads intersection on Saturday, doing burnouts and obscuring the area in clouds of tyre smoke.
Sergeant Greg Hume encouraged witnesses to lay police complaints so police could carry out search warrants to impound vehicles. Police planned to look into the issue in the North Canterbury area, he said.
Stollen Rooftop camper
Our lovely Dutch guests had a rooftop camper stolen off the top of their vehicle last night (Friday).
The car was parked on the corner of South Eyre/Browns Road with a for sale sign on. The awful person/people must have had tools available to unscrew and it was heavy.
