Lead in old water pipes

Maria from Betta Water Filtration

You will no doubt know of the concern Dunedin residents recently had when levels of 'lead' were found up to 40 times higher than deemed safe in their drinking water. The city council hare 'continuing to investigate' but confirmed there is likely some contamination from old lead joins in the city's pipes. Now they have the responsibility to replace them. But what is the danger of high lead levels in our water? This article linked below from the USA outlines the potential dangers. Quality filters can remove heavy metal contamination for your peace of mind.

A PRICELESS GIFT

Donna from Gate Pa

Hello everyone

The restriction on giving blood in response to the outbreak of ‘Mad Cow’ Disease in the UK (restricting anybody who lived in the UK between 1980 and 1996 from giving blood) was lifted 29 February 2024.

So, for the first time in over 30 years I donated blood last Tuesday. I am again able to give a priceless gift that may very well save a life – and all for just 1 hour of my time.

So, for whatever reason you haven’t given and would like to, I encourage you to find out more about how you can donate.

There is a lot of info on the NZ Blood Website.
